PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The U.S. Senate is set to vote on a bill to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

If approved, the measure would provide $50.5 billion in aid to the regions hardest hit by the Superstorm, including Rhode Island.

The house has already approved the proposal and the president has said he will sign the bill.

Hurricane Sandy is blamed for 140 deaths and billions of dollars in damage to residential and business properties.
