PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A panel of Rhode Island lawmakers will soon get an update on the health of the Narragansett Bay watershed.

The House Committee on Environment and National Resources is scheduled to meet on Wednesday for a meeting focusing on the health of the bay and the progress of efforts to protect it.

Lawmakers are expected to discuss how climate change is affecting the bay, and receive information about the water quality of the bay and the streams and rivers that feed into it.

The meeting will also include an update on the number and success of invasive species that have colonized the bay.
