PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Providence man is facing DUI and reckless driving charges after police say he drove several miles the wrong way down Interstate 95.

Several witnesses called 911 around 4 a.m. Friday after spotting a gold Toyota traveling south on I-95 North near Thurbers Avenue Providence.

A short time later, officers found the vehicle stopped in the high-speed lane of I-95 North in Cranston, near Jefferson Boulevard.

The driver, 49-year-old Danubio Suchite or Providence, was charged with driving under the influence, and reckless driving.

State Police say Suchite's blood alcohol level registered nearly three-times the legal limit on a pair of field sobriety tests.
