PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- State Troopers arrested a man who they say was driving drunk and traveling the wrong way on Interstate 95 Saturday morning.

Troopers received a 911 call alerting them to the wrong-way driver a few minutes before 4 a.m..  That driver was headed South in the Northbound lanes of I-95.  A Trooper encountered that vehicle, which did not stop, and soon afterwards was involved in a collision at the Route 37 overpass.

There were no injuries in that crash, and Troopers arrested 53 year-old Robert Sanchirico of Cranston at the scene; he was charged with DUI, reckless driving, obstructing an officer, and several other traffic violations.

Sanchirico, who was convicted in 2009 of refusal to submit to a chemical test, was held overnight pending his arraignment later Saturday morning.
