PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Rhode Island's faith communities are being asked to show their solidarity with the Sikh community in Wisconsin this weekend.

The Reverend Dr. Donald Anderson, Executive Minister of the Rhode Island State Council of Churches, is asking worshippers statewide to observe a time of rememberance this weekend.

"People of all faith traditions join together to express not only our concern for the victims of this shooting," Anderson said in a news release, "but for religious intolerance whenever and wherever it manifests itself."

Anderson also urged worshippers to also stand with the Masjid Al-Islam mosque in North Smithfield that was vandalized last weekend.  North Smithfield Police announced Thursday that a $1000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved in vandalizing the mosque's sign.  The FBI and State Police are assisting in that investigation.
