PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island police say a man was charged with drunken driving after he was found apparently asleep in his vehicle on a traffic lane of Interstate 95.
The state police say a tow-truck driver called police at 2 a.m. Saturday to report that a pickup was stopped on I-95 in south Providence and that its driver was slumped over the steering wheel. The tow-truck driver watched as the pickup rolled across another lane and struck a guardrail. The tow-truck driver then approached the vehicle to remove the keys from the ignition.
Police say the driver, 25-year-old Tyler Wyngaard of Providence, was arraigned on a drunken driving charge after his blood-alcohol level was determined to be .185, more than twice the legal limit of .08.
Attempts to reach Wyngaard Monday were unsuccessful.
