PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The government wants a former radio personality imprisoned for her role in a $40,000 insurance fraud scheme.

On Friday, federal prosecutors filed a motion recommending a judge sentence Laura Sergiacomi of North Providence to four months behind bars and four months of community service.

Sergiacomi, also known as former Lite Rock 105 DJ Tanya Cruise, pleaded guilty to attempting to bilk her home insurer out of $40,000 after last year's historic floods.

The scheme was uncovered during a separate investigation into a bribery scheme involving three North Providence town councilmen.

Sergiacomi is seeking home confinement.

Her sentencing is scheduled for August 25.
