PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Gas prices have risen in Rhode Island for the 13th time in 14 weeks, and $4 gas has been spotted again at the state's most expensive gas stations.
According to the weekly AAA fuel survey released Monday, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is now $3.89 in Rhode Island. That is two cents higher than last week's survey.
Gas prices have not fallen in Rhode Island since December 26th, when they dropped to $3.32 a gallon. Since then, the cost of gas has risen by 57 cents a gallon.
The only time during that span that gas prices did not rise, according to AAA's figures, was between March 5 and March 12, when they remained flat at $3.80.
The average price of gas in Rhode Island is three cents below the national average of $3.92.
AAA recommends shopping around to find the best price. According to Monday's survey, the price of regular unleaded ranged from $3.75 to $4.01 across the state.
