PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- National Grid has launched a new mobile version of its website that will give customers easier access power outage information on their smartphones and tablets.

The mobile website allows users to view outage maps, report outages, and check the status of an outage.

It also includes storm safety tips, answers to frequently asked questions, and contact information to reach National Grid in an emergency.

National Grid hopes to eventually add other features to the mobile site, such as bill payments and meter reading submissions.
