PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A recently-completed lighting upgrade is giving customers a brighter experience at Providence Place Mall.
On Thursday, mall officials unveiled two thousand new LED light fixtures installed in the parking garage, some equipped with motion sensors.
"[Customers] will notice it's brighter than it was before," explained contactor Christopher Wright, who designed and installed the new lighting. "What they'll also notice is when they pull into specific parking spots, that the lights will actually come on for them almost like it's custom tailored for their arrival."
The new LED lighting is expected to save Providence Place Mall more than $165,000 annually in electricity costs.
The project was paid for in part through a $400,000 energy efficiency rebate provided by National Grid.
