PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Providence held its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and holiday festivities Saturday night.

The event took place at the Bank of America Skating Center in Providence.

Eyewitness News anchor Jennifer Mobilia helped Mayor Angel Taveras switch the lights on the Christmas tree.

The ceremony also featured performances by RPM Voices, the 18 Wheelers and the Brown University Skating Band.

Students from Johnson & Wales University sold ornaments to benefit Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

This year’s tree was a Colorado blue spruce. The tree was donated by Brunno and Shirley Sayodelli of Providence.
