PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Graffiti vandals were caught in the act Wednesday night - spraying painting a billboard off 95 in Providence.

Eyewitness News cameras were rolling as two people spray painted a sign off Swan St.

A third person was on the ground below. It appears that he was taking pictures.

Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements says graffiti is an ongoing problem in the city.

"It is an unwelcome site, it brings blight upon the neighborhood and it brings the neighborhood down," said Clements.

Providence Police are investigating this incident.

In 2011, Mayor Angel Taveras launched an anti-graffiti campaign . To report graffiti in your neighborhood, you can call 1-800-TAGGERS.
