PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - A Providence city worker has pleaded not guilty to theft charges.

Gary Sepe, 46, is accused of stealing street signs and selling them to a scrap metal yard for personal profit.

Sepe appeared in Providence District Court Wednesday morning for arraignment.

The Department of Public Works employee was spotted at the scrap yard by Providence City Councilman Michael Correia.

Sepe is the brother of Alan Sepe, the city's Director of Public Property.

He has been released on $1,000 personal recognizance. He has been suspended without pay since his arrest, and the incident remains under investigation.
