Prov. skating rink opening Wednesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Providence's downtown skating rink is set to open for the winter season ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Bank of America City Center rink is scheduled to open Wednesday afternoon with limited hours. The rink will also be open limited hours on Thanksgiving Day. Regular hours will begin on Friday morning.

The Brown University Bears hockey team will skate with the public and sign autographs on Friday afternoon.

Rental skates, lesson packages and season passes are available. Rink admission is free for city residents on the first Saturday of every month.

The rink will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It's open on all holidays throughout the winter season.
