FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) -- A worker fired after a woman drowned in a Fall River pool is reportedly back on the job.

According to Tuesday's Fall River Herald, Roger Casavant was reinstated to his position as a city sanitary inspector back in September.

This comes after he took his case to an independent arbitrator.

In June 2011, Casavant inspected the Veterans Memorial Pool without noticing the body of Marie Joseph, who drowned in the pool two days earlier. Investigators said it was hidden in several feet of murky water.

Casavant's lawyer told the Fall River Herald his client was a city worker, and had no jurisdiction over the state-run pool.

Three state workers were also fired after the drowning.
