TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) -- A Taunton man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for strangling a man to death inside a city residence.
Nelson Melo, 35, was convicted of first-degree murder for killing 31-year-old Chad Fleming on Bay Street back in 2009. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Fleming was a Florida resident that previously lived in Taunton.
We're told that a total of 29 witnesses and more than 50 exhibits were introduced into evidence during the two-week trial.
A second suspect, Aaron Morin, 29, of Freetown, is scheduled to face a judge on Nov. 26 for Fleming's death.
