Suspect sought in Taunton hit-and-run

Victim hospitalized with serious injuries

TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) -- Officers are on the lookout for suspects after a hit-and-run crash that left a Berkley man in critical condition.

The hit-and-run occurred at about 8 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Harrison Street and Harrison Avenue. A man was reported shot in that exact location less than an hour later , though police have not said if the incidents are related.

Police tell us the suspect was driving a gray 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a Massachusetts license plate believed to be 298RB5 when he struck the victim.

The 34-year-old man was rushed to Tufts Medical Center in Boston to be treated for serious injuries. We're told he's in critical, but stable condition.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have seen the suspect's vehicle is asked to contact the Taunton Police Department at (508) 824-7522.
