NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) -- A police officer and two firefighters are recovering after responding to a house fire in New Bedford.

Flames broke out at a triple-decker on Clark Street at about 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.

The fire chief tells us the fire began in the third floor, and caused extensive damage.

About six people are now displaced, but luckily no residents were hurt. However, the two firefighters suffered cuts while battling the blaze, and the police officer was treated for smoke inhalation. All three are expected to be fine.
