Comcast Center security scrutinized

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WPRI) - The Mansfield Board of Selectmen is reportedly scheduled to meet with the town's police and fire chiefs this week to reevaluate security at the Comcast Center.

The venue has been plagued by a rash of arrests at concerts this summer, and the drug and alcohol-related deaths of two concertgoers during a recent rave festival.

According to the Attleboro Sun Chronicle , Chief Arthur O'Neill says sophisticated new fake IDs are helping fuel the problem of underage drinking. 

O'Neill tells the Sun Chronicle that police have found underage drinkers with "nearly perfect" IDs that were purchased online.

The town is also investigating several reports of violence during Comcast Center concerts, including the alleged beating of a 15-year-old Coventry girl during the JAM'N 94.5 Summer Jam concert in June.

Another man was seriously injured after being attacked by several concertgoers at a Tim McGraw show last year.

The Attleboro Sun Chronicle also reports that police were investigating an alleged sexual assault at the Comcast Center during a Drake concert in June.

The police and fire chief are reportedly scheduled to meet with selectmen on Wednesday to address the problems and determine how to improve security at the Comcast Center.
