Police confiscate $8K worth of marijuana

SOMERSET, Mass. (WPRI) – Police arrest a man for allegedly growing marijuana in the woods near his house.

Thursday, Somerset Police arrested Dean Tavares of Williams Court.

Tavares has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and trespassing.

Police seized an 8 marijuana plants worth an estimated $8,000.

Also seized were an ATV and several tools.

Tavares is accused of growing the plants in a wooded area off of Bay View Avenue in Somerset.

Somerset Police tell Eyewitness News the investigation is ongoing.
