FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) – A piece of property that has sat vacant for over a decade will soon be a thing of the past.
Property on 34 North Seventh Street in Fall River began to be demolished on Tuesday.
The house created a public nuisance in the Bank Street neighborhood.
In November of 2011, Mayor William Flanagan and neighborhood leaders announced the “Building Blocks” initiative, a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization effort.
The plan specifically addresses the issue of abandoned and vacant properties in the city.
The property being demolished will be the site of a state of the art community garden, built and maintained with the help of neighborhood leaders.
