BOSTON (AP) -- Massachusetts U.S. Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren has met with Gov. Deval Patrick as she prepares for her new Washington job.
Warren was tight-lipped on many questions from reporters after the meeting. She wouldn't say which Senate committees she would seek to serve on, nor did she speak about her approach to avoiding the so-called "fiscal cliff" facing the nation.
Warren later said she was still talking to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid about committee assignments and wanted to serve on panels reflecting issues she talked about while campaigning.
She also said she has to exercise more discretion now than as a candidate.
Patrick said he expected Warren to be a "good partner" in Washington.
Warren also said she was "delighted" to be one of five new women elected to the Senate.
