Power line replacement to delay traffic

ATTLEBORO, MASS. (WPRI) -- Drivers using Interstate 95 in Attleboro Sunday should expect delays as crews will reinstall power lines after Thursday's incident.

National Grid will be running new power lines across the highway Sunday, beginning at 5:30 a.m. and running until about 2 p.m.

The repair work will be occurring between Exits 4 and 5, where two tractor-trailers snagged low-hanging power lines Thursday afternoon, forcing the closure of the highway.

There will be lane closures and delays Sunday as crews complete the work.

One truck driver was shocked after he got out of his vehicle with lines still tangled on it.  Nobody else was injured in the Thursday incident that snarled traffic for hours.  

Officials told Eyewitness News on Friday that a "structural issue" with utility poles set back from the highway were to blame for the power lines sagging down over traffic.
