PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Joe Fernandez formally launched his campaign for Rhode Island Attorney General on Tuesday.
Fernandez also unveiled his “Rhode Island Anti-Corruption Bill of Rights,” in order to hold the government accountable.
“It’s time for an end to the political lip service about corruption. It’s time for an end to the culture of corruption plaguing our government. It’s time for us to end the embarrassment that we feel every time we open the newspaper to find more allegations of corruption. It’s time for the hardworking people of this state to have a government as good as they are,” said Fernandez.
Fernandez, a former Providence city solicitor is one of three Democratic candidates vying for Patrick Lynch's seat . He will challenge fellow Democrats Smithfield town councilman Steve Archambault, and state Representative Peter Kilmartin.
Republican candidates include Erik Wallin, Moderate Party candidate Chris Little, and Independent candidate Robert Rainville.
