Riviera Beach, FL (WPRI) - The son of local golfing great Dana Quigley was reportedly in critical condition Friday following a serious car crash in Florida.

The Palm Beach Post reports that 27-year-old Devon Quigley suffered severe head trauma after his BMW collided with a tractor trailer Wednesday Night.

The crash happened in Riviera Beach, Florida.  Police say Devon Quigley was headed home to West Palm Beach where he lives with his father, New England PGA Hall of Famer Dana Quigley.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation Friday.

Devon Quigley is a native of East Providence and graduated from URI in 2007.  He is trying to follow in the footsteps of his father who now plays on the Champions Tour, and his cousin, PGA pro Brett Quigley.

Just days before the crash, Devon led a team to first place in a charity golf tournament in Florida that raised more than $100,000 for families affected by cancer.

His mother reportedly flew down to Florida Thursday to be by his side.  According to the Palm Beach Post report, Devon Quigley was surrounded by friends and family at the hospital.
