ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) -- Police are still looking for a suspect they say kidnapped and sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman.

The attack happened in broad daylight and set off a major police search near Pleasant Street in Attleboro.

According to police, the teen was walking in an alley near the municipal parking garage in downtown Attleboro Tuesday, when a man accosted her at knife point, forced her into her own car, and made her drive to a nearby parking lot where he sexually assaulted her.

"She was just barefoot and looked really scared," said Hasan Samrout, an eyewitness.

Samrout said the victim was able to escape her captor and ran to the Shell Station on Pleasant Street for help.

"She was shaking and she was scared and police were talking to her."

Bob Soucy lives across from the business on Starkey Avenue where the victim was assaulted and witnessed the massive search for the suspect.

"The helicopters and cruisers, state police dogs and canines were all here," said Soucy.

Police said the victims' car was later found in the woods near the commuter rail tracks, but the suspect got away.

The suspect is described as a white male, early twenties, approximately 5'8" to 5'9", tall and clean shaven wearing gray or black hooded sweatshirt.
