PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A federal grand jury has indicted Justin L. Worley with eight counts of bank robbery.
Worley, the so-called ‘bearded bandit’ is charged with robbing eight banks in Rhode Island between April 16 and September 18.
The 33 year old was arrested by East Providence and Seekonk Police at a motel on route 6 in Seekonk on September 19.
Worley is being held in Massachusetts on charges he allegedly robbed a bank in Seekonk on February 23.
The robberies took place in Barrington, Cranston, East Providence, North Providence, Pawtucket, Seekonk, and Warwick.
All those municipal police departments along with the FBI investigated the robberies.
Bank robbery is punishable by a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison followed by up to 3 years supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
