PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- In an effort to reach a store cash register quickly, a robbery suspect showed bold behavior when he jumped the counter and pushed a clerk to the ground.

According to police, the Shell Gas Station on Valley Street in Providence was robbed at 2:12 a.m. Monday.

The cashier told police a "black or dark skinned Hispanic male walked into the store and immediately jumped over the counter and pushed" them to the ground.

The suspect then allegedly opened the register and took an unknown amount of cash along with the cashier's phone.

No one else was in the store and it's unclear what direction the suspect fled to.

The suspect is described as being approximately 6'3" wearing a black or blue hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath, blue jeans with a distinct cut on the left leg of the pants and white sneakers.

Any with information on this robbery or suspect is asked to please contact Providence Police Captain Michael Correia at 243-6276 or 243-6406.

Meanwhile in Pawtucket, police are investigating an armed robbery at a Sunoco Gas Station on School Street around 2 a.m.

It's not clear how much money was stolen.

But, police searched the surrounding neighborhood for clues.
