PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI/AP) - Gas prices in Rhode Island and Massachusetts rose 3 cents in the past week, the first weekly increase in more than a month.

Drivers are paying an average of $2.75 a gallon for regular, self-serve unleaded in Rhode Island, according to AAA Southern New England's weekly survey. The survey says Massachusetts gas stations are averaging $2.69 a gallon.

That's the first time in more than a month that week-to-week prices have risen in Massachusetts, while gas prices in Rhode Island last increased in the third week of June.

Both states are under the national average of $2.78 a gallon.
