(WPRI) - FOX welcomed students of universities around the U.S. back to school with special viewing parties for THE X FACTOR.

FOX gave universities in their audition cities "X Factor party packs" for their events.

Salve Regina celebrated the premiere of THE X FACTOR on Wednesday and Thursday night with more than 50 students in attendance.

This summer, thousands of hopefuls - both solo artists and vocal groups - lined up at venues in cities across the U.S. for their chance to prove to judges Britney Spears, Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid that they have the vocal ability, charisma and stage presence it takes to become a global superstar or breakout music act.

The winner of THE X FACTOR will win the largest prize in television history: an unparalleled $5 million recording contract.
