Yanni to perform at PPAC

(WPRI) - Yanni , music’s true world citizen and most popular contemporary composer, announced today the first leg of a major tour of North America commencing in April of 2012, and will performing at Providence Performing Arts Cente r on Sat, May 19.

Yanni has sold more than 35 million albums globally with over 40 gold and platinum album awards and has a fan base like no other. His music is joyous and written to be positive and life-affirming. “I want my music to remind people of their potential for greatness,” he says. “I want to inspire as well as to entertain."

YANNI: Live at El Morro, Puerto Rico for CD and DVD was released by Sony Music on April 17.  Repertoire for the CD and DVD features YANNI and his acclaimed orchestra performing breathtaking audience favorites including “Truth of Touch,” “Voyage” and “Vertigo” from Yanni’s latest studio album, Truth of Touch (2011). Also featured is a new version of Yanni’s signature song “Nightingale,” along with other classics that have not been recorded in decades, including “The End of August,” “The Rain Must Fall,” “Felitsa,” “Ode To Humanity,” plus two encores: “Niki Nana” and “One Man's Dream.”
