PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Roger Wililams Park Zoo is extending their Saturday hours so zoo-goers to check out the animals at night.
'Well, the zoo is going to be open for the four Saturdays in August. And, folks have been asking us if we could try being open in the evening. And, it really just is a nice time to be here at the zoo and to experience it. It really is a whole different light," said Jan Mariani, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Roger Williams Park Zoo.
Admission is open until 8 p.m. and the zoo will stay open until 9 p.m.
"It's actually pretty nice because there's a cool breeze that comforts you. And that's when all the animals are out and more active. And, everything is all cooled off," explained Joey Regan.
The moon bear, snow leopard and bald eagle are some of the animals that are more active during the twilight hours.
"I think at this time of year when it can be so warm during the daytime. And, maybe people want to do other things during the day, things to stay cool. It's just really nice to know you're going to have this opportunity for a fantastic family experience or even a great date night," added Mariani. "It's just a wonderful way to spend a fantastic summer evening and I think people here are really having a great time."
