Families with children battling cancer can often feel very alone. Thankfully, there is a local organization that provides financial and emotional support to young patients and their families - and you can help too!
Jennifer Wheeler's daughter, Emma, was diagnosed with kidney cancer when she was just 8 years old. She had to endure nine months of chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and multiple surgeries.
After receiving treatment, Emma's health has improved. She's back in school with her friends, and is even playing softball.
"If you looked at her you probably wouldn't necessarily know everything she's been through," said Jennifer. "She's a strong, tough, amazing child."
Although, this might not have been possible without help from the Tomorrow Fund .
Patrick Moulton is an unlikely hero in her fight, and is proud to run for a cause.
"Anytime you can support charity or use your talents to kind of promote a bigger cause, it's really good," said Moulton.
The 13th Annual Rhody 5K takes place at Twin River Casino on Sunday, June 3. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., and runners of all skill levels are welcome to participate. Best of all, the even supports families like Emma's.
