PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - As the dates for auditions get closer, the city of Providence is bracing itself for the arrival of "The X Factor".
Rhode Show host Will Gilbert headed to the creative capital to see how some places are getting ready!
"I wanted to go to a place where none of these shows have been before," said Cowell. "Then there was a picture of Providence that somebody showed me and I thought 'this looks amazing.'"
Fox Providence wants everyone to know about the excitement coming to the city! They are put up amazing signs all over the capital city to show that Providence itself has the X Factor.
We also spoke with Kristin Adamo, Vice President of marketing and communications for the Providence Warwick Visitors Convention Bureau, she told us
"It's a huge opportunity for Providence to be on a national stage, said Kristin Adamo, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Providence-Warwick Visitors Convention Bureau. "It's tremendous media coverage, it also provides exposure for people coming into the city for the first time."
Even a special Simon Cowell martini has been created at Roma on Federal Hill!
Everyone is working to show what amazing city Providence really is.
"We’ve all been very, very excited about it. I mean from the Mayor's office to the Dunkin Donuts Center, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, we've all been working together to make sure that people get pumped and that people participate, and that people have a lot of fun while they're here," added Adamo.
Thousands of people will be heading to the Dunkin Donuts Center to show the rest of the country what they've got, and the excitement has been building for weeks.
"We started getting calls immediately after it was announced that The X Factor was coming to Providence. From restaurants and retail shops that were really looking to capitalize on it, and also to welcome Simon Cowell, said Adamo. "He's a hot commodity everyone wants Simon to come to their restaurant."
