Sprucing up holiday mantle, centerpiece

(FOX Providence) - This time of year around the holidays, many people want the festivities brought into their home by decorating their mantle and other areas of their house.

Designer Sheila Vargas from Frerichs Farms and Greenhouse joined The Rhode Show with some fun ideas on how you can spruce up your mantle, and create a one-of-a-kind centerpiece.

Some of Sheila's tips featured in the attached video:

- Take one of your favorite scarfs, lay it out on your table and use it as a table runner.

- Bring garden ornaments indoors and put them on display inside your home for a different look.

- Find a clear container, fill it with cranberries, cover them with water, and place a paper white bulb on top. As they grow, the roots will grow down in the cranberries, and it will hold them in place. If you'd like to use it as a hostess gift, just add a little ribbon, Sheila said.
