KINGSTON, R.I. (FOX Providence) - Summer vacation for some kids means lazy days hanging out with friends. But, some Rhode Island students out there are making their summer sing. They're called "The Young Voices of Rhode Island."
Nearly 100 local students, from ages five to 18, are coming together this summer for a memorable on-stage revue. Some have been performing for years, others inspired by hit television shows like FOX's Glee. And like Glee, the focus this summer is not on the individual, but on teamwork.
During the heat of the summer, students have been hard at work with demanding rehearsals. They've been receiving instruction from professional directors, an international level choreographer and experienced musical instructors.
The end result of this production, 100 voices in a revue called "Broadway to Movies to Broadway". It features dozens of songs pulled from decades of movie musicals.
"Broadway to Movies to Broadway" is on stage Friday, July 30th and Saturday, July 31st at the Courthouse Center for the Arts in Kingston . Visit their website for showtimes and ticket information.
