(FOX Providence) - A band called Main South will be performing, appropriately, on South Main during the Rock N Roll Half Marathon.
Main South is an irreverent blend of rock, blues and alt-country. The group is a collaborative effort between singer-songwriter John Brazile and an alternating lineup of musicians who come from Nashville and New England. John named the group both for the neighborhood in Worcester, MA where he grew up and also in reference to the southern-rock leanings of the band.
Their influences include Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne, John Mayer Trio, U2, The Wallflowers, The Band, Credence Clearwater Revival and Ryan Bingham, among others.
The stage that they'll be playing on during The Rock N Roll Half Marathon is at the southern end of South Main Street.
Next up for the band, they'll be opening for Lonestar at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA on September 18th.
