(FOX Providence) - The Rhode Show is going green and talking about some of the latest technology for electric vehicles and the first charging station in the state.

Peter Arpin from Arpin Renewable Energy along with Nick, Ron and Pete from Cardi’s Furniture joined the Rhode Show to talk more about their exciting new event.

The Rhode Show: Nick, tell us about the upcoming event and what you’re revealing.

Nick Cardi: This Friday, August 27 at 10:00 am, we're unveiling RI’s first public car charging station at the Route 2 West Warwick Cardi’s Furniture location. It looks like a drive in movie speaker set up. Other states such as New York and California have these for rental vehicles, this one is for people who own electric vehicles and need a boost throughout the day. Best of all, there will be no cost until 2012.

The Rhode Show: That’s great. Peter, tell me a bit about Arpin Renewable Energy.

Peter answered.

The Rhode Show: Peter, Cardi’s and Arpin have worked on a few projects together, relief drives for Hurricane Katrina and the Haiti earthquake. It seems like you guys have a great partnership.

Peter Arpin: We do, both family businesses, RI companies, and a really cool thing about this project, it’s all been privately funded and with the long range goals, our hope is to reduce the state’s carbon footprint. There’s also been some great work done by Al Dalhberg of Brown University and project get ready, all the info is online and of course, people are invited to the unveiling Friday, August 27th at 10 am.

The Rhode Show: It’s great to see business leaders in the state taking interest and initiative into these new green technologies.
