(FOX Providence) - The Rhode Show's Ben Hague got to enjoy some great seating from Cardi's Furniture . Home theater leather power recliners were brought in to The Rhode Show to demonstrate what they could do for you at home.
"Absolutely, when people hear the term: "power recliner" they may think of the lift recliners that assist people with standing up," said Ben DeCastro of Cardi's Furniture .
Types of recliners: The "Granny Launcher"
"This is actually the newest trend in furniture, with the touch of a button you can put your feet up, recline all the way back, and with this center console that comes part of the package: You have cup holders, a place to store the remote control, and it comes completely apart for easy moving."
Recliners like these are a great compliment to any home theater.
"The best thing about this style is really the number of configurations that are available. So bring in the measurements of the room, any details you can include as well, and come see one of our home furnishings professionals and they'll make you comfortable," added DeCastro.
Depending on when you go to Cardi's , you may see some extra activity in their parking lot and that's one of the great things of summer: Classic car cruises!
Recently Ben Hague went down to a cruise to see what it's all about.
Nearly everyday during the summer car shows take place all over the Ocean State. From the classics of the past to the speedsters of today, there's a little something for everyone.
Many of the car shows around the state collect donations to benefit local charities. Which makes showing up and hanging out with all your friends even more worthwhile.
And one thing most of these folks have in common, is they enjoying doing the work on the cars themselves, including adding a little extra power.
Cardi's holds car shows twice a week.
"That's right, Wednesdays we're up in the Braintree store, and Mondays, depending on the month, we're in one of the Southern New England Locations June has been South Attleboro, and July will be Swansea," added DeCastro.
And these cruises are more than just the great classic cars. There's music, food, and the 50/50 benefits local charities.
"Yes, for the Monday night cruises proceeds go to RI Food Bank , McCauley House and Special Olympics . Our Wednesday night funds go to benefit the automotive scholarship program at Blue Hills Technical School . The car cruises are free to participate for both classic car owners and spectators!"
