Annual Toys for Tots drive kicks off

(FOX Providence) - As we all prepare to gather with family and friends for Thanksgiving, it's a good time to remember those less fortunate than us, that could use a helping hand this holiday season.

Cardi's NiRoPe joined The Rhode Show to tell us about the annual Toys for Tots Drive.

Cardi's Furniture has been collecting toys for the annual fundraiser for 23 years.

"We've just started collecting for this year, though," said Nick Cardi.

What toys are actually needed?

"We could use new, or like-new, and un-wrapped. Meaning, not taken out of the box, but we don't want any Christmas wrapping around it.  Because they need to know what it is, to make sure it gets to the appropriate child," added Ron Cardi.

No toy is off limits. Stuffed animals are allowed to be given as toys, too.

"CDs, DVDs, puzzles, you name it," said Pete Cardi.

Toys can be dropped off at any Cardi's Furniture location.
