WARWICK, R.I. (FOX Providence) - Wednesday night Cardi's will hold the Design Awards along with Rhode Island Monthly . The annual awards has been happening for the past 17 years.
"They're very informal, there's no entry fee . It's a celebration of all the local architectural and design talent and we bring them together for one day. The entries are judged by a panel of judges from out-of-state. We want to keep it impartial, they do the judging one day in July and then we run the winners in the October issue," explained Sarah Francis, Editor at Rhode Island Monthly.
Throughout the October issue, readers will find variety. From small to large budget, from homes to industrial.
"We have a gorgeous beach house, obviously a bit more on the high end, there's a yoga studio, which was a budget project. There's a really cool office building that's built from packing crates in downtown Providence. And even a modest converted garage. So there's something for everyone if you're looking for ideas for maybe remodeling your house, because new construction is perhaps out of reach, we've got lots of ideas in this magazine."
The event announcing the winners is being held at the Design Center inside Cardi's from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m Wednesday. It's invitation only.
