(FOX Providence) - We've all complained about Rhode Island roads and now the 19th annual highway report from the 'Reason Foundation' said we hold the honor of having worst overall roads in the country.
The Ocean State came in second for the "bumpiest" rural roads in the country. Alaska was first. We also hold the title of the most troubled bridges in the country with more than half the bridges deemed deficient.
But wait that's not all, Rhode Island also has the least cost effective roads. But, in contrast our interstate actually ranked first, and although it may sound odd we came in with the third fewest fatalities.
But even with that good news we came in dead last in the overall annual highway report. In the year 2000 we came in at # 36 and have consistently gone down since then.
Last year the state was ranked in at # 49, and this year finally dropping to fifty.
