(FOX Providence) - It's official, the top 5 finalists for The Rhode Show's Search for a Star has been chosen. Courtney Petrouski of Assonet, Mass. is one of them.

Watch the attached videos to learn more about Courtney, and why she thinks she's the next Rhode Show co-host.

About Courtney:

Courtney is a beach-lovin’, coffee-milk chuggin’ gal from just over the state line. She spent the last year locked away in snowy Syracuse, NY for grad school and is excited to be back in the land of bubblers and Wright’s Dairy Farm cream puffs.

She grew up in Assonet, MA in the same house her mom grew up in—which meant she had the same teachers as her mom as she made her way through the Freetown-Lakeville school system. That made the awkward teen years slightly more awkward. So she got a job as soon as she legally could, getting her out of her all-too-familiar neighborhood and into Portsmouth, RI, where she lifeguarded at Sandy Point Beach.

Courtney majored in English and—staying true to her roots—dabbled in French and Portuguese as an undergrad at Harvard. Putting her language skills to the test, she studied in Lyon, France her junior spring, where she domesticated herself (i.e. she learned how to cook and hasn’t been able to leave the kitchen since). The following summer, Courtney stayed in countless hostels and ate in every churrasqueira across southern Spain and Portugal as a writer for the budget travel guide, Let’s Go!

Since then, Court’s received her Master’s in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse. Her head almost exploded when found out she’d be finishing the program as an intern at the Travel Channel in D.C. this past summer. Currently, she’s a tutor at Sylvan Learning Center, where she teaches SAT prep, writing, and study skills to students of all levels and ages. After business hours, she’s a full-blown groupie of local funk-rock-pop band, Welcome to Florida.

To Courtney, talking to people—especially people who know what a Del’s lemonade is—is the ultimate, and she hopes to bring her passion for meeting people (and her appetite) to the Rhode Show to share with you every morning.
