(FOX Providence) - It's official, Ben Hague of Cranston, RI has won The Rhode Show's Search for a Star.

About Ben:
It's 9:56pm back stage at the Funnybone in Des Moines, Iowa,
just minutes before he is going to take the stage and attempt to
entertain the sold out room of patrons who are well into their
third hour of drinks. While most performers would be pacing the
halls, this particular comic is in an intense debate about why
fancy restaurants should start offering buffalo sauce as a
condiment.
Here begins our journey into the slightly twisted mind of
Ben Hague, one of the hottest young talents on the comedy
scene today. Always looking to be the center of attention, and
born with the gift of gab (often funny gab), Ben decided to start a
career path in the business of show. After attending Florida
Southern College where he majored in Broadcast Journalism, and the
American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC, he began his comedy
career at the age of 21 in Los Angeles.
Ben's first stand-up performance was at the world famous
Laugh Factory on Sunset Boulevard. Since then, he has shared the
stage with such stars as Dane Cook, Dave Attel, Louis CK, Robert
Klein, Jeffrey Ross, Gilbert Gottfried and many others. Ben was a
finalist in the Orange County Laff Down and Orange County
California's funniest person 2004 & 2005, respectively. Closer
to home, Ben recently won the Catch A "New" Rising Star competition
in his home state of Rhode Island. He headlines comedy clubs
throughout the US, and has performed at over 35 Colleges
nationally.
Ben originates from Cranston and currently resides in East
Greenwich. When his old teachers from Bishop Hendricken heard about
Ben getting into comedy, it's safe to say none of them were a bit
surprised. Hague has done some acting as well, being featured with
small roles in several of the projects that have been filmed in the
Ocean State over the past few years. He has also contributed blogs
and articles to many local publications, and was featured on the
cover of POINT magazine in 2007 being dubbed the "RI King of
Comedy"
In his free time Ben enjoys writing, golf, the beach,
traveling, Hollywood gossip, and experiencing RI's restaurant
scene. He is of course a devoted follower to all New England sports
teams. Deep down he wishes he could juggle, speak to dolphins, and
have X-ray vision. Hague has also been overheard at bar's telling
women he wrote and produced the soundtrack to Mama Mia.
