The story behind Danny Gokey's glasses

MILWAUKEE (FOX Providence) - Ever since Danny Gokey's audition in Kansas City, you haven't seen him in the same pair of glasses. They're always different, and they always stand out.

Well, The Rhode Show found out where he gets them- At Dr. Wagner's Southridge Optical.

"Even before American Idol, Danny always had very trendy, very stylish glasses we've come to know over the years the kinds of frames that he's looking for. That fit his personality," said Wagner.

So, is this strictly about style?

"Oh, no they're not, they're not for show. Without his glasses Danny doesn't see very well," added Wagner.

And he should know. Dr. Wagner also says Ddanny's a good patient., and simply a nice guy.

"I think he personifies the Milwaukee character. He's a salt of the earth, humble, good guy. Always comes in with a hug for everybody."

The big question is: Does Danny have enough glasses to carry him through the season of American Idol?

"I think to date he has maybe 18," said Wagner.

Danny tells his doc he likes something that's very visible, fashion- forward and trendy-- but yet he's a down to earth guy-- so, he tries to strike a delicate balance.
