(FOX Providence) - Bathing suit season is upon us, but fear not, we have some tips to help you find the most flattering fit for your body type.
Stylist Jill Marinelli says there are four major body types: hourglass, rectangle, triangle and inverted (upside down) triangle.
An hourglass figure has shoulders and hips about the same width with a defined waist. Like Drew Barrymore and Scarlett Johannson, hourglasses are curvy.
A rectangular body is straight, with shoulders and hips about the same width but without a defined waist. Sometimes this is a more athletic silhouette like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson.
The triangle body type has smaller shoulders and a fuller hip. The most famous example of the triangle shape is Jennifer Lopez. Mischa Barton is a triangle as well.
The inverted, or upside down triangle is a fairly uncommon body type, one with a broader shoulder/bust and an almost non-existent hip. Angelina Jolie and Cameron Diaz are inverted triangles.
