Michaela learns to walk the runway

(FOX Providence) - StyleWeek Providence is in full swing, and with many designers showing off their collections, we sent Michaela Johnson out to see what it was like behind the scenes.

Designers, models, and stylists were busy getting ready at the Biltmore Hotel. Kicking off StyleWeek for the first time is designer Avni Trivedi, who was full of excitement. Her fall collection consists of hand-dyed fabrics and many different techniques.

To get a firsthand look at what it’s like to walk the runway, Michaela got some tips from fashion expert Jonathan Joseph Peters. “There are two kinds of postures, fashion and pageant” explains Jonathan. “Pageant posture is very stiff, very geometric, where your hips and your shoulders are parallel. Fashion posture is a little more broken, so you want to sink your shoulders. It’s a little sexier, slinkier, and you want to act like something is pulling you to the end of the runway.”
