(FOX Providence) - Five-pound Yorkshire Terrier Schmitty, the weather dog is barking up a lot of attention this summer in the City by the Sea!

The New York celebrity and activist pooch has been the focal pup for Newport area weather reports and events at the pet-friendly Hyatt Regency Hotel in Newport this summer as their resident weather dog.

Schmitty the weather dog along with Meteorologist and human interpreter Ron Trotta joined the Rhode Show to talk more about Schmitty's special talents including making delicious and refreshing cocktails and mocktails.

Salty Dog

Ingredients:

2 oz Gin
4 oz Grapefruit Juice
Coarse kosher salt for rimming
Lime wedges
Ice

Steps:

Moisten the rim of a Collins/high-ball glass with the juice of a lime wedge.

Place coarse kosher salt on a saucer and, holding the glass parallel to the table dab the rim of the glass into the salt while slowly turning the glass so that only the outside edge is covered.

Shake off any excess salt and fill the glass with ice. Pour the grapefruit juice and the gin over the ice and stir well then garnish the glass with a lime wedge.

You can make another “doggie” master drink named the Greyhound by eliminating the salt rim and replacing the gin with vodka.
