(FOX Providence) - Local singer, Melanie Donnelly from North Kingstown stopped by The Rhode Show to share her experience on American Idol. Having made it up to the final round of Hollywood Week on the show, Melanie learned a lot from her experience.

This was Melanie's second shot at Idol. Two years ago she won the Southern New England Idol contest which gave her a chance to audition for the actual show. Her experience this year took her much further. She made it through some of the grueling rounds in Hollywood and had the opportunity to gain feedback from the new judges, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

Although no longer on the show, Melanie says her experience was "surreal" and served as another learning experience in her journey to pursuing a singing career. Don't forget to catch the remaining hopefuls on American Idol Wednesday and Thursday at 8pm on Fox Providence.
