(FOX Providence) - It's becoming more an more apparent that there are substances out there than can cause harm to ourselves, and especially our children.

Mom blogger Audrey McClelland, of momgenerations.com , joined The Rhode Show to talk about how to live your life a little greener while raising a new baby.

While deciding on which baby bottle to use, you'll notice a lot of brands have the words BPA free on the label. What many don't realize is how harmful it can be.

"BPA is actually a chemical estrogen, and this is in hard plastics. When you think about it, you have these bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers and teethers, and it's almost like you think of it leeching into the liquids or the foods, and the products our babies are putting into their mouths," said McClelland.

Naturally, this can be worrisome to parents and become a concern.

" Born Free is one of the world's largest brands when it comes to BPA free products. You have bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers, teethers. And a huge thing too is, there's also BPA in the lining of formula cans, so you can have these great formula dispensers which are great too."

A great website called thesoftlanding.com features not only Born Free products but many others.

"They have aprons, lunch boxes; so when your baby is growing up there are also other options and products as your children go to the toddler age and a little bit beyond as well," said McClelland.

Another website to visit to continue a greener lifestyle is healthychildhealthyworld.com .

"Their mission is to inspire and educate parents to really lead healthy lifestyles. They actually have an amazing book that every mom should have on their bookshelves. It's a guide to creating a greener, healthier lifestyles for our families."
